“Get your foot off that seat!”
We were riding home from the White Sox game. The train was crowded. At Lawrence, a young Asian man got on. A teen black girl was sitting in a seat perpendicular to a vacant seat, and had draped her foot across two of the only vacant seats on the train.
“Get your foot off that seat you piece of shit!” he hissed at her. She just gave him a look and spit out: “Pffftttt...” And didn’t budge.
He was fuming. Shaking his head. Making those disgusted tsks and snorts that people make when they are really mad.
The atmosphere in the train car got really tense. I was further away, but my daughter and my friend were sitting much closer to the combatants. My friend grabbed my daughter by her shirt collar and emphatically steered her away from the brewing trouble.
Finally the disgusted Asian man (who never got to sit down) got off the train at Bryn Mawr. As he was exiting, the teenage girl said:
“Get yo gay ass off this train. Heh heh heh….”
