Enough of that snuff!
We all see lots of disgusting things on the CTA. This was a new one to me.
During the evening rush on the Red Line, a 20-year-old guy with a huge wad of snuff embedded in his cheek spits the excess juices lovingly into a clear, half-pint water bottle.
Did I mention that the bottle was clear?
Eeeewwwwwwww!
Do you mean "chew" instead of "snuff"? Snuff is a powdered tobacco that you sniff through your nose.

Hi m2, good question. According to this definition, snuff can refer to both the stuff you chew and stuff you sniff. I'm referring to the stuff you chew.

Gag! That is nasty. I can't believe some people (and some baseball players) still use that stuff. When I was growing up in Iowa, teen boys would use it, thinking they were cool. "Just a pinch between your cheek and gum..."

See, aside from the "eewww-naaasty" factor, I have a question--don't these people ever forget that they have a mouth full of vile nicotine-laced glop and scum, and reflexively swallow? And THEN what happens?

Last Christmas, someone did this on the plane next to me. I must say that he was polite and asked me and the gentleman on the other side of him if it was okay. For whatever reason at the time (holiday spirit, he was in the military going home to visit his family) we both said yes. It was a little stinky and ugly to watch. I don't think anyone else could smell it but I will never agree again. Lesson learned.

Considering you were on the CTA, you should be grateful at least that the guy was spitting into a bottle and not just on the floor or a seat....

At least he didn't drink from the bottle afterwards...

Maybe he was keeping it as a pet?

Or planning to make the spent tobacco version of a corn dolly?
