Be nice, por favor
Three or four teen-aged girls board the Red Line after school going north in the Loop. They stand by the door chatting. They're fairly normal-looking. You know, bare midrifts, spiky hairy in various shades of red, purple and blonde. Whatever.
A few feet away stand a Hispanic couple, maybe in their 30s or 40s. They woman is working the beads on the rosary around her neck, mouthing the various Hail Mary's and Our Fathers in Spanish.
She turns to her husband, and says in a normal tone of voice:
"Las putas a la puerta."
"(There are) whores at the door."
One girl in bright purple-red hair looked straight at her and said, "Gracias!"
She must be acing her Spanish class.
(ala the simpsons laugh) -AHA! that's hilarious. good for that girl. that's funny.
i read that stupid article about the possibilities for what might happen this year. different fares for a bus or a train? different fares depending on the time of day? plus hikes and cuts? what!??
what a clusterfk. it's already bad enough. now add some poor elderly person who's struggling to get on the bus or the guy who really doesn't have enough change but is going to sort of pretend he does... wait a minute, is it 2.10 or 2.50? i thought i was getting on the train, man!
nightmare!!!!!!
just take all the money they saved on not salting the gehry bridge in millenium park and give it to the CTA!
