A Red Line party!
I'm heading home, going north on the Red Line, when two young women board at North and Clybourn.
They start talking about having a party on the Red Line -- my kind of gals!
"Wouldn't it be cool if we just turned the train into one big party?" said one to the other.
"Yeah! We could have one of the cars be the bar car, and play music and dance all the way home!"
OK, who's in? When should we have our Red Line CTA Tattler party? I'm thinking some time in early June to celebrate the first anniversary of this blog (June 10). What say you? If they can do it in New York, we can do it in Chicago.
UPDATE: Here are details on our first anniversary party.
Bar car? Will the party-goers be allowed to piss in hobo corner?
Everytime I ride the el I leave feeling like I just want to take a hot shower with a vat of anti-bacterial soap. Not sure I'd relish the idea of partying in some place so filthy.

You should direct these young women to this site:

Yes, that's right. You can rent a car for a party! I wonder if they clean the car for you before the party?
Last week, I was on the Red Line, and I happened to look down at the seat across from me (the seat before the Hobo Corner partition), and I saw a large rather mound of what, on first glance, appeared to be sand in the corner underneath the seat. Then it dawned on me, it was that saw dust material used to absorb vomit. Whoever cleaned it just swept the stuff in to a corner, instead of sweeping it up and disposing of it, and there was lots of it. Nice.
Rent the L for a party? No, thanks! Besides the cleanliness issue, they don't let you bring alcohol on the train.

how about for your one year anniversary we pary at Goose Island
It's a lot cleaner and you won't spill your drink when the conductor slams on the breaks so it can stop in the station

But Goose Island isn't any cleaner!!! I was there a couple of months ago and some guy at the bar cut his hand on a broken glass. Blood went everywhere, splattered all over the floor. The staff wiped down the bar, but didn't clean the floor for 15 minutes...in the meantime people were walking through it. It was really gross.

I'm up for it. This has become one of my regular stops on the net every day and would like to meet the other readers.

Wasn't this already done on the Blue Line a few years ago? Around the time when there was that "Mass Transit Fashion Show", also on the Blue Line, centered at the Clark & Lake station... anyone else remember that?

I'm in! Sounds like a lot of fun!

What the hell, why not?! This could be hysterical! Would CTA have issues with it, though? Would they shut down the party train? List of jams to be played:
1.) "Loco-Motion" by Little Eva
2.) "C'mon N' Ride It" by Quad City DJ's
3.) "Blue Train" by John Coltrane
3.) "People are Strange" by The Doors

What about a CTA Tattler Train party - rent it out and lets go. www.flowfeel.com

no, they wouldn't shut it down. i talked to the guy in charge yesterday. if you get enough people, it's really not that much money. the only caveats are: no booze (i'm a recovering drunk, so i'm not torn up about it), and you have to keep your clothes on.
you can have food, beverages, AND live music! i'm in LOVE with this. yay!!

I'm in for it. This is a regular daily stop for me too. I'd love to meet some of the folks here.

Absolutely!!! Sort of like a "happy hour" type of deal. I'm in!

I'm in. However, if we cannot consume on the train, can we pre-game on the platform?
Lastly, Kimberli, I like the playlist... especially the Quad City DJs piece. Classic.
