Scary Scar-Man
The last couple of days I've been blogging about fights on the train and near-miss skirmishes. But then there's the guy who looks like the obvious victim of a fight somewhere.
Have you ever seen someone on the CTA with a hideous scar and wonder about the origin of it?
Last week I saw a guy about 50 years old sporting a scar that started on his right jaw and swooshed like the Nike logo down across his neck.
I just wanna know how he survived that knife wound and what did the other guy look like?
Uh, it could be a surgical scar from throat surgery. Not all scars are the result of violence.

Yah, I have a scar beside my right nostril due to ancient stitches. When I was an infant, I fell on a sharp glass table display in Roses (department store).
Also a nick above my eye and one big dimple.
It was a bit peculiar to hear that some girls who didn't know me but had seen me commuting referred to me as 'there's Scarface'. Oh well, I think of them as natural tattoos.

I'm guessing that cartoid artery surgery is the most likely culprit. Fatty foods and arterial placque is probably more of a threat to most people than knife-wielding bad guys. Oddly enough, the knife actually saved my dad, who now sports those tough guy scars. What's even more interesting is that certain warning signs were first noticed by his eye doctor, who encouraged him to seek the attention of other specialists.
