CTA sends first alert to our network
Those of you who are members of our CTA wireless alerts community got your first official message from CTA staff today at 11:48 a.m. -- though you probably didn't know it:
"Due to an unattended back pack, trains are bypassing the Clark/Lake Blue Line station."
Now THAT''S a great alert! Way to go CTA!
Just two minutes after I got that on my phone, Cindy Kaitcer called me. She's the general manager of marketing and advertising for the CTA. She said one of her assistants had sent the above alert at the direction of the CTA, though it was from his own personal "handle." I told her I was very pleased, but that they should get a new handle name so folks know it is indeed from the CTA. She promised to do that, but said she wanted to get the information out right away.
Gotta love that quick response from the CTA. Thanks for quickly getting on board with this project.
... and they've followed up with useful updates (which they've also posted on their web site as customer alerts). Good to see!

Wow. Cool!

This is definitely a positive first step. The alert even told us WHAT was causing the delay, which is much more that I would expect!
CTA riders should be very grateful to Kevin and Daniel O'Neill for taking a leadership role on this. Great job guys!

The #4 Cpttage Grove Express is not running north bound. Could you let us klnow what is happening. Passengers have been waiting for about half an hour. Time 4.25 pm

Could it be because the #4 Cottage Grove Express only runs northbound in the mornings?

Yes, according to the CTA's schedule, the X4 only runs inbound in the morning, outbound in the evening. The passengers who were waiting should have perhaps read the bus stop sign.
Although, that's not always a good thing to do. Take a look at an X55 sign the next time you're in Hyde Park -- it claims that State Street is _east_ of the Green Line such that the stops west of the Red Line are Red Line, Green Line, State, King, etc. Last time I checked, State Street was between the Red and Green lines :)

No harm in waiting for the bus, just bring a long book to read.
