Tricks, few treats on Halloween
I gaze with boredom out of the window of the Red Line train at around 5 pm on Oct. 31, at Thorndale.
Quickly, my eyeballs bulge to attention at the sight of a group of young kids and their Halloween "pranks" around Swift School.
About 20 kids are flinging eggs at each other and otherwise pummeling and smacking. Good times are had by all. Except if you happen to be a commuter or neighbor walking to or from the Thorndale station.
And of course, all of this happens directly under the watchful gaze of the blue-flashing police camera at Thorndale and Winthrop.
What the hell? This is ridiculous!

I'm sure the police camera is there for scarier stuff than egging. But seeing cameras as such places as the Morse stop indicates that some neighborhoods are not as safe as they once were.

Jack, I grew up taking the L from Morse, and, trust me, nothing has changed. Heck, the cops used to leave an empty car with its lights flashing in the middle of the street, just as a deterrent.

Thugdale seems to always have lots of problems.
