Cell-ified trixies on No. 11 Lincoln bus
The No. 11 Lincoln/Sedgwick bus is recommended by the CTA as a great alternative to the Brown Line during three-track operation. But Cheryl has certain, shall we say, reservations:
"I tried out taking the #11 bus north yesterday after work. I thought was a Secret Bus that no one knew about.
"Boy howdy, was I wrong--it was full of Trixies. Which makes sense, I guess, since it goes right through Trixieland.
"Every single one of them were on the phone--one was having a Bridezilla moment on the bus because of something to do with the invitations. Another called someone, only to find out they were on the same bus. I'll never ride that bus again."
Priceless.
That actually sounds pretty entertaining...

What is a Trixie? Is this some sort of derogatory term?

It's a pretty good ride. I've been taking it home since 3 track started. Picks me up right outside of work and drops me off 4 blocks from home. Much closer that the brownline. I haven't had to stand in a mob at all. only 45 minutes door to door.

Mat, I was wondering that too. What IS a Trixie? I take the 11 all the time myself, & I've never seen anything quite like what Cheryl described.
I will say, ridership really did jump on the 11, and they were smart enough to add another stop-point besides Addison. Some now go to the Western Brown stop, which gives me more chances to get home in a timely fashion.

I too was unsure but as always Urban Dictionary pulled through:

Tom -
What's the best way to get in touch with you - I'm interested in talking with you about some upcoming events we are helping to put together.
Thanks,

I'm sure they all had GIGANTIC purses as well ;)

They weren't real Trixies if they were taking the bus; REAL Trixies drive Jetta's.

I now take this bus often and felt the same way when I was on it for the first time. I looked like a hobo compared to all of the expensive purses, highlights, and big diamond rings.

Wow--I got two stories above the fold in one week. You like me--you really really like me!

i bet a bunch of the people who comment, etc., on this website are trixie's and chad's anyways.
i like how everything is make fun of the rich and make fun of the poor but the middle class... they're just perfect.

After 2 hours I'm still laughing at the Trixies who called each other and were on the same bus. Classic momment. Wish I was there!

Well obviously Cheryl and the rest of us board readers are superior to everyone else.
However, I think the disdain for Trixies isn't about wealth/class, but rather more about sheer cluelessness/ditsiness.

Well, that's true, Chad, except some Trixies aren't going to drive *themselves,* you know. Even if they have to take a CTA limo.

Dave, er, Vivalfuego hit it on the nose.
However, I will also throw in the sense of entitlement some of them feel as well.

wow. so this is what the (formerly great) tattler has become? a place for people to disparage others because of their tattoos/handbags/socio-economic status/etc etc etc?
newsflash: if you alter your transit route because you have a problem with so-called "trixies," it seems pretty easy to make the argument that the trixies aren't the ones with the problem... it just might be you...

amen rick.

Chances are that if you don't know what a trixie is and live north of the loop, you are one.

If you think that's bad, try the #36...

Jeez, next you'll start making fun of "hipsters." The trixie and chad generalizations got tired about five years ago folks. Move along.

Yah! there was a trixie chic sitting on the bus seat in the front of the bus with her boyfriend. She pulled out a t-shirt and said to him "Its not dusty, I thought it would be. A slow black girl rang it up." When I heard this, I thought wow did she say that??? She said it like she was unawares that there may be some black people in the bus, the driver was for sure. I think if she could have said "this shirt got rung up by a black woman that was working slowly". that wouldn't have been too bad. I really really wanted to call her a trixie.

are you sure these were actual trixies? Trixies generally do not ride the bus. It's either the el, cab or boyfriend SUV.
