Gay hatred thrives on train
I've seen this hate graffiti before on a CTA train, but my friend documented it for me via photography. And the worst part is that this graffiti is only slightly different from what I saw previously. Pathetic.

Those marker tags want me to form a guerilla graffiti removal squad -- carry around a flask of everclear and cotton balls, strip that marker ink right off. I wonder what the CTA would think if people started doing that?

I think the CTA would be grateful for the anonymous service. I think they'd think, "We have some great riders--let's fight to keep service going for them".
As for that graffiti, it's pathetic. Having clearly defined beliefs of what's right and wrong is one thing; making an ass out of yourself in the service of those beliefs is quite another. Further, don't these people realize that it's wrong to deface someone else's property? They wouldn't want someone defacing their homes, so why the heck do they want to deface something that we all have a stake in? That's the truly pathetic part of it.

Who's the girl in the picture. She's smoking hot! Hopefully, for me, not a lesbian! Right?

How discriminatory. Why not include gays in that statement, too? I'm pretty sure they're going to hell also.

I am making a graffitti removal kit, thanks for the inspiration. I have not seen this particular writing but thre are the candom curse words and insults written in various places. They won't be missed, either.
Sigh. "Love One Another." It's only three words, why is it so hard for people to remember?

Well perhaps there's some solace in the fact that it appears there's only "one" person in a decidedly liberal city of 6 million that feels that way. :D

That is actually pretty weird how it singles out lesbians...I bet it's some dude whose ex-girlfriend became a lesbian.

What is everclear and where can I get some? I want to make a graffiti kit, too. What a fantastic idea!! We are the CTA Avengers!

Everclear is HIGH proof alcohol. You can get it at a liquor store. Mix it with some Red Bull and enjoy cleanin the CTA!

Adam says: "Well perhaps there's some solace in the fact that it appears there's only "one" person in a decidedly liberal city of 6 million that feels that way."
Well, it would be nice to think so, but I doubt it. Asswipes like this only run in packs.

Davey,
I think that is what he implied; using sarcasm.

Maybe, ya know, the person who wrote that had a point?

LH--there are better places to put across opinions or even even valid points (assuming that is one--very restrictive, tho. Like half said, why not include gay men too? They would be on the same level as lesbians, I would think.)

I love lesbians!
Why don't lesbians love me?

In all seriousness, I would interested to know if the Everclear + Red Bull combo actually works. It would be super-easy to dampen some cotton balls, keep them in a Ziploc bag, and pack them in my purse for when I'm on the El.

I commend all the graffitti removal peeps, but damn, it's sad when riders feel they have to take matters like this into their own hands cause they can't trust it will be cleaned up quickly.

Ahh... good ol' gay-bashing (sorry, apparently this is only lesbian bashing)
Bigots are pathetic. Get a life, stop worrying about everyone elses. If you think lesbians will go to hell, fine, but why do we need to know what you think or.. ahem, sorry, "believe"
Differences of beliefs are what start many wars, why can't people just accept the fact that people are different than they are?
Posted by: adam | December 19, 2007 at 01:28 PM
Yeah, well, I've seen lesbians verbally harassed and physically threatened on the red line. While the graffiti itself isn't bad, it's the symptom of a bigger problem (bigger than Rods hair too).

Why don't lesbians love me?"
LOL.
