Celling across the car
Two woman in their 20's spy each other across the train car and strike up a conversation -- via cell phone.
Each stands in the opposite doorway across the car, looking at each other and laughing as they exchange pleasantries.
Quite a few passengers surrounding them notice the conversation. Finally the one says, "Well I'm getting off at Belmont. Have a good day at work."
She snaps her Razr shut, chuckles and gives a wave to her pal as she exits at Belmont.
I suppose it's better than yelling across the train car, right?
Reminds me of a previous post about texting another person in the same car. It does have its place.
I've seen people make calls only to find out they're calling someone who is in the same car on the train or on the same bus. They tend to hang up and move someplace they can talk in person.

I would love to see certain people I encounter in my commute take to texting. There are the guys on the Pace bus I ride who yell to each other although they are literally 3-5 feet away from each other. They're always sitting in the back of the bus, and yell loudly enough that they can be heard clearly all the way up in the front. They also talk about some really inane stuff, but the noise level is far more irritating.
I'd also like to force texting on those who nextel their friends on speakerphone at the highest volume. {CHIRP} HEY KENDALL {CHIRP} WHAT'S UP? {CHIRP} NUTTIN, JUST RIDIN' THE TRAIN {CHIRP} THAT'S COOL... and so on...
