Top Tattler Tales of 2008: October - CTA fare hike, communications plan and crime

In October, the CTA formally announced fare hikes of 25-50 cents on buses and rail lines for all fare types. CTA Tattler did a quick analysis of the fare hike and impact on riders, and a 2009 budget analysis.

(On Monday, Jan. 5, look here for more in-depth analysis of the fare hike.)

We also reported on the CTA's "Comprehensive Customer Communications Plan" and how the CTA will deal with emergencies. Also in October, we had the opportunity to revisit the CTA's photography policy. Interestingly, when I got a preview of the CTA new Web site recentlly, the Webmaster proudly noted there's a link to the photography policy on the main drop-down menu under "Doing Business."

We covered the rancorous, though lightly attended, public hearing on the fare increase. We also looked at crime during the summer on the CTA. And on the crime front, we reported on how Chicago Card data helped nab an alleged rapist.

Finally, we wrote about some crazy CTA stuff, such as the Sox-partisan motorman, and about presidential politics meshing with the shell game.
